Pertussis Alert

Here is the text of a OneCall message going out tonight:

Good evening. This is Dr. Linkenhoker, the Principal at Smith Voc. Our school nurse wanted to let all Parents and Guardians know that we have one confirmed case of Pertussis or Whooping Cough in our school. Your child should be bringing home with them today an Advisory and Fact Sheet on Whooping Cough. Please be alert for cough-like illness in your child.  If the cough persists or worsens, please call your child’s physician and inform them of the symptoms and let them know of the case in our school.  Even if your child is fully immunized and has had a recent Tdap vaccine, they can get the whooping cough.  The student who was diagnosed had up-to date vaccinations. Please call our school nurse if you have any questions or concerns.

Spring Sports Physicals

Here is the text of a OneCall going out this coming Sunday:

Good evening. This is Dr. Linkenhoker, the Principal of Smith Voc. I am calling as a reminder to parents of athletes planning to participate in the upcoming spring athletic season to make sure your child has an up to date physical from their primary care physician. Your child will need to provide documentation of a valid physical from the past 13 months to be able to participate in athletics. Please submit all documentation to the school nurse’s office. Students without a valid physical will NOT be able to participate in try outs or practices per requirements from the MIAA. Questions can be directed to Jeff Lareau or Jesse Littlefield. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Welcome!

Greetings! I am happy to announce the unveiling of my new blog. I hope you find this space useful, informational, and interactive as I continue to work on expanding the communication and feedback from our parents and community. I look forward to your comments and suggestions. My goal is to ensure our students, parents, and the larger community gain a better grasp of what is happening at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School while also providing a platform for comments and suggestions.

This year we started a school-wide newsletter that is posted bi-monthly on our website. My intention is to post blog entries in a more timely fashion to avoid any lapse in the flow of communication. If you ever have a question about what is happening please do not hesitate to comment or contact the school.

Thank you again. I truly wish everyone a wonderful day!
